Police clear Tesla protest camp: activists arrested in the trees!

The police have dispersed the protest camp of Tesla opponents in Grünheide with full force! The officers have been on duty since Monday morning to get the activists out of the trees. The gathering was declared illegal due to serious violations of public safety and order. According to police headquarters, all squatters have been asked to leave the camp, while some remain holed up in the tree houses.

Over 100 police officers are on site to bring the situation under control. According to reports from rbb reporters, five activists have already been brought safely to the ground, but around ten others stubbornly refuse to evacuate and have retreated to dizzying heights. The police have set up a security radius of 50 meters to carry out a search for explosives in the forest. This action is necessary to examine the area for possible explosive remains, which have been in focus since the summer.

Fight for the trees

The activists see the search for explosives as a pretext to undermine their freedom of assembly. On Monday they called for resistance, which led to 13 people barricading themselves up to a height of 30 meters. The police, on the other hand, emphasize that freedom of assembly is preserved as long as the protesters stay outside the restricted area. Still, the situation remains tense as activists continue to try to maintain their protests against Europe's only Tesla factory, which is threatening to build a freight yard that would cut down more trees.

The police have given clear instructions: Anyone who does not leave the tree houses voluntarily will be fetched by height rescue specialists. The clock is ticking and protesters must decide whether to stay or leave while the authorities do everything they can to restore order!
