A dramatic incident has shaken the Ahrensfelde S-Bahn station! On Saturday evening, November 2nd, a devastating fire broke out in a train on the Niederbarnim Railway. The fire department was alerted when the three wagons were already on fire. Fortunately, there were no passengers on board, but the train driver and a train attendant had to be looked after by paramedics on site. Station closed – replacement service set up!

The Ahrensfelde S-Bahn station was completely closed during the fire brigade operation, which led to significant traffic disruptions. To support travelers, a replacement bus service was set up. The good news: The S-Bahn is now running regularly again. However, the tracks will remain closed to regional traffic for the time being while emergency services extinguish the last embers.

It is noteworthy that the burning train was not operated by Deutsche Bahn, but by the private Niederbarnim Railway. Further details about the causes of the fire are not yet available. The situation remains tense as firefighters continue to work on the scene to tackle the latest hot spots.
