Good news: August-Bebel-Straße in Bernau soon passable!

Bernau, Deutschland - Imagine, there is light at the end of the tunnel for Bernau drivers! From October 31, August-Bebel-Straße between Parkstraße and Eberswalder Straße will be released for traffic again. After months of construction work that had completely blocked the road in sub -areas, the drivers can finally take a deep breath. The release is initially only for this special section, but it is a first step towards complete restoration.

On September 30th, the road from the direction of Parkstrasse had already opened, now the vehicles can also roll again in the opposite direction. Torsten Balk, head of the civil engineering/green spaces of the city of Bernau, announced that the intersection of August-Bebel-Straße/Börnicker Straße is released for arriving and exit, which makes the flow of traffic considerably easier. "Thus, the use of August-Bebel-Straße and in the direction of Börnicker Straße and Hussitenstraße becomes possible again," explains Balk.

Extensive renovation work

August-Bebel-Straße is one of the most important traffic arteries in Bernau and has been thoroughly renovated for over a year. Part of the measures are the widening of the road, the creation of a parking strip, the renewal of the sidewalks and the optimization of the property access and barrier -free bus stops. In addition, the municipal utilities in cooperation with the Water and Wastewater Association carried out extensive underground work. New water and sewage supply lines, a modern district heating route as well as fresh electrical lines and telecommunications cables were installed. Residents can even look forward to new street lighting!

Despite this progress, August-Bebel-Straße between Jahnstrasse and Parkstrasse remains completely closed. Here the work to relocate new supply lines is still ongoing. The final completion of the entire construction work is expected to take place in the 2nd quarter of 2025. However, the path to the freed August-Bebel-Straße is paved, and the coming months promise a sigh of relief for road users!
