A dramatic industrial accident shocked the Brauweiler industrial area on Thursday afternoon! An employee of a production company was so seriously injured while cleaning a machine that his hand became trapped between the rollers. The emergency call was received at 2:40 p.m., which immediately mobilized the Pulheim fire department with a large contingent - including the Brauweiler and Pulheim fire engines as well as a full-time guard and rescue services.

While the first responders, led by Chief Fire Inspector Maik Billstein, arrived at the scene of the accident, immediate measures were taken. The seriously injured man initially received medical care from the rescue service and emergency doctors. To free him, the fire department secured the machine rollers and dismantled parts of the machine in collaboration with company employees. In this critical situation, a rescue helicopter was even called in to take the man to a special clinic as quickly as possible - proof of the seriousness of the situation.

Duration of operation and follow-up measures

After around an hour and a half of intensive work, the firefighters finally managed to free the trapped employee. He was immediately treated further in an ambulance before being transported to a special clinic in Cologne. With a total of seven fire engines, two rescue vehicles and an emergency ambulance, around 30 personnel were deployed to prevent the worst.

And as if that wasn't enough, the control center alerted the same emergency services shortly afterwards to a traffic accident in nearby Brauweiler, in which two cars collided. Fortunately, the situation there was less dramatic; The two affected people were examined on site but did not need to be hospitalized. The fire brigade appeared to be well prepared and professional in both operations!
