Reichelt debate: Junge Union and Jusos in the bitter argument!

The political tension between the youth associations of the CDU and SPD in Berlin is bubbling! The reason? The Junge Union (JU) invited the former “Bild” editor-in-chief Julian Reichelt to discuss controversial topics such as freedom of expression and media landscape on Friday evening (November 15) in the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district. But the Jusos are horrified and immediately organized a protest under the motto "Es Rich (t) el (t)" in front of the event location, supported by the Green Youth. They accuse the JU not to differentiate themselves from right positions.

Haluk öngören, co-chair of the Jusos, leaves no doubt that the invitation to Reichelt is too far. "Reichelt is a personality who is more than controversial. In inviting someone we don't find it okay," he explains. The Ju, on the other hand, sees Reichelt to the "most controversial media professionals in the Republic" and criticizes the growing tendency to avoid unpleasant opinions. In your invitation, you emphasize the need to talk to controversial personalities.

Reichelt and his controversial reputation

Julian Reichelt, who started a career on YouTube after his expulsion on the "Bild" and now leads the right -wing populist online portal "Nius", has a dubious reputation. Allegations of sexual harassment and abuse of power are in the room, although an examination procedure did not have any indications of misconduct. Nevertheless, there are numerous complaints about his portal that experts classify as similarly problematic as the US broadcaster "Fox News".

The JU is behind its decision to invite Reichelt. Alex Gerasimenko, the head of the Ju Tempelhof-Schöneberg, emphasizes that the event was designed and organized by the JU alone. He assures that Reichelt is "viewed critically and differently". In the past, the CDU had already distanced itself from its youth association when similar controversy came up. The political argument between the youth associations will continue and heat the minds!
