Raster on the A1: Alarming numbers during traffic controls!
On July 5, 2025, the police carried out a number of traffic controls on the A1 in the Vöcklabruck district, which showed several dangerous drivers. The civil patrol took measures against three particularly striking road users, which caught the eye of both excessive speed and through alcohol -related inability to drive. The first incident occurred at 9:30 a.m. when a driver was stopped with a blood alcohol concentration of 1.18 per thousand. This incident gains particular explosive by the fact that the driver's driver's license had only been granted four days earlier after it had previously been withdrawn due to similar offenses.
At 1:40 p.m. another driver was stopped who was traveling at 204 km/h. This speed is very excessive even on highways. When the 16-year-old driver from Vienna, whose car belonged to his brother, was checked, it turned out that his brother also had no valid steering authorization. The third incident occurred at 4:30 p.m. when a 41-year-old Bosnian citizen was overtaken at 180 km/h. He too was alcoholic, his value was 0.68 per thousand, and it was also affected by addictive substances. Unfortunately, the driver's license could not be collected due to prior notification.
alcohol at the wheel: a widespread problem
such as the ADAC , alcohol at the wheel significantly increases the risk of accidents. Alcoholized road users are often absolutely accurate, which has a drastically affect traffic safety. In 2023, 18,884 people in Germany had an accident in alcohol -related accidents, whereby 198 people lost their lives. It is particularly alarming that every 14th road user who died in an accident was affected due to alcohol problems. A blood alcohol concentration from 0.3 per thousand can result in legal consequences, while from 1.2 per thousand there is a considerable punishment, as well as the withdrawal of the driver's license for at least nine months.
The alarming increase in rapid incidents in Berlin, as in a report by rbb24 shows that this problem is of great importance not only in Austria, but also in Germany. In 2024, 923 procedures for razor offenses were initiated in Berlin due to stricter laws, which has been the highest level in seven years. The police are increasingly taking measures to combat these dangers, while access to highly motorized vehicles is easy, especially for young men, and strengthens this trend. Over 40 percent of the procedures concerned escape trips, often in connection with drug use, which underlines the need for stronger controls.
The civil patrol on the A1 has set a clear sign with its controls and shows that the police are determined to pull dangerous drivers out of circulation. The combination of excessive speed as well as alcohol and drugs at the wheel endanger the lives of many road users. Through such measures, one hopes to increase traffic safety sustainably and to avoid tragic accidents.
