Supported by the largest opposition party, the Social Democrats, and several smaller left and liberal parties, the 58-year-old competes with the slogan "the president as president". While the political competition for Milanović is limited in the left camp, a serious challenger has emerged in the right spectrum with Dragan Primorac. Although Primorac is specified in surveys with almost a quarter of the votes and has the support of the government party HDZ, it is often described as colorless and without charisma. His possibilities for overcoming the election campaign remain questionable, while Milanović appears as a sharp critic of Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and denounces the stagnation of the current government.
