A big loss for literature: publisher Jürgen Arne Bach died
Jürgen Arne Bach died at the age of 82. He died after a long serious illness with his family in Freiburg. Bach was publisher of Leipziger E. A. Seemann Henschel Verlagsgruppe from 2003 to 2017. His daughter Annika Bach now heads the publisher and describes her father as a person who offered security and orientation and was part of the literature industry.
Bach was actively in the development of new projects and the compilation of teams. He was known for his ability to win authors and to structure book content clearly. Oliver Zille, former head of the Leipzig Book Fair, recognizes Bach as a sponsor of the book fair after the turn. He was also active in the Advisory Board of the Leipzig Book Fair and worked for more than 40 years in the book industry and the Leipzig cultural landscape.

2008 Bach received the "Golden Needle" of the Börsenverein of the German Book Trade. On April 1, 2003, he took over the publishers Henschel, E. A. Seemann and Edition Leipzig and founded Seemann Henschel GmbH & Co. KG. Until his retirement in 2017, he was a publisher and managing partner of the publishing group. Bach was born in Stuttgart in 1942 and studied history, English and politics at the Albert-Ludwigs University Freiburg. He completed a bookseller apprenticeship at Herder and rose to the head of the advertising and marketing department.
Other stations in his career were the publishers Ullstein Propylaäen in Berlin and Franckh Kosmos in Stuttgart. From 1995 to 2000 he headed the Dornier Medienholding. Before moving to Leipzig, he was in the management at Herder from 2001 to 2003. Bach was also active on a voluntary basis, including at the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels, at the working group of youth book publishers (AVJ) and the European publisher Association.
In addition, from 1997 to 2012 he was a member of the publisher committee from the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandel and from 2000 to 2006 chairman of this committee and a member of the board. He has been involved in the working group of youth book publishers since 1991.
