Dr. Fischer demands: Central hospital for Weilheim urgently needed!
Things are simmering in the healthcare sector! Dr. Wilhelm Fischer, the hospital GmbH's tireless ombudsman, demands that the plans for a new central hospital in the district not be abandoned. In a gripping interview, he emphasizes that progress must be made despite the heated debate about the closure of the Schongau Hospital and the future of the Weilheim-Schongau GmbH Hospital. Fischer, who was once the chief physician and continues to step in even in retirement, is convinced: “We need a modern central hospital with the latest technology.”
The modernization of medicine requires a radical realignment. Fischer emphasizes that minimally invasive procedures are the norm and that many treatments now take place on an outpatient basis. “The concept of an outpatient center is therefore crucial!” he explains. Instead of hanging on to the old structures, it is time to actively shape the future. “Even the Pro Hospital Schongau Action Alliance now supports our vision!” Fischer has had countless conversations and pointed out the need to urgently improve medical care in the district.
Location problems and future prospects
But is Weilheim really the right location? Fischer is skeptical. "Weilheim is not ideal! Accessibility for people from the western district is problematic." He warns of the shortcomings such as too few parking spaces and the lack of a helipad. The former chief physician emphasizes that although there is space for a central hospital in Schongau, the search for qualified doctors is a constant problem. “The appreciation for the medical facilities here is simply not sufficient.”
Another stumbling block: financing. Fischer calls for clarifying steps towards hospital reform and shows that the urgently needed funding for outpatient centers is still uncertain. “We have to ensure that our emergency services are equipped to deal with major disasters!” he warns urgently. Looking to the future, he appeals to the population to stick together to guarantee the best possible health care. The need for a working group to improve health care in the district is becoming increasingly urgent in order to bring about real change.
