Smoke alarm in Straubinger workshop: technical failure causes fire!

On Monday, October 14th, the Straubing volunteer fire brigade was called for a fire in a car workshop in Johannes-Kepler-Straße. An employee had noticed smoke in the office around 1 p.m. and initially tried to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher. Unfortunately, this attempt remained unsuccessful, which made the urgency of the mission illustrated.

The police explorations show that the cause of the fire was probably a technical defect in a heater. This type of defect can quickly lead to a dangerous situation, which is why the employee's quick reaction was commendable, but was ultimately not sufficient to contain the fire.

damage and consequences of the incident

The fire brigade's forces were finally able to extinguish the fire, but the consequences were considerable. The damage incurred is estimated at around 20,000 euros. Fortunately, there were no injuries, which is gratifying in such situations. Fire cases in workshops are a serious danger, not only because of the possible damage, but also because of the risks for the employees.

The incident was a clear reminder for companies to carry out regular maintenance of their technical devices and ensure that fire protection measures are always present and functional. Highest care should be possible in particular in workshops where combustible materials and machines are in use. As reported , the security of the employees remains the highest asset in such incidents.
