Schweinfurt relies on sports: millions for new artificial turf pitches!
Schweinfurt, Deutschland - Schweinfurt is facing a financial upheaval! Households have been set up for 2025 in the past few weeks, and the picture could not be more sobering: the heyday of trade tax revenue has been a thing of the past. ENRICE Gutermann, the head of the sports office, relieved that the sports area was still with a budget of 1.3 million euros despite a decline of almost a million euros. "Under no circumstances is a savings balance!" he underlined vigorously in the budget.
The decline in the budget is not as dramatic as it seems. Rather, the difference from 2.26 million euros in 2024 results in EUR 1.3 million in 2025 from rebookings and not savings. The planned construction project of a artificial turf pitch for Türkiyemspor Schweinfurt with a financing of 382,000 euros is excluded because the association is still at the start of the project. It remains to be seen when the excavators roll.
New training opportunities for sports clubs
But there are also bright spots! The gymnastics community can look forward to the renovation of the career on the district sports facility "Breite Wiese" - the old ashes are replaced by contemporary tartanization. Many athletes lose valuable training time there and are forced to avoid the strongly frequented 400-meter railway in the Sachs Stadium. In addition, a new artificial turf pitch will soon be created at the garden city primary school so that kickers and athletes can also play on modern terrain there.
For the handball fans of the MHV Schweinfurt, there is also an all -clear! A defective indoor separation curtain caused problems last season because the association was forced to hold games in other halls and risk penalty fees. Now the city decided to bear half of the additional costs of 1,766 euros - a relief that the sports committee unanimously supports!
