Autumn trips: ADAC warns of changing game and the risk of vision!

With the arrival of autumn, drivers in Germany are faced with challenges regarding driving conditions. Fog, moist roads and falling leaves can significantly affect the view and security. The ADAC Nordbayern therefore offers some valuable advice to safely maneuver through the critical months.

Especially in the early morning and in the evening, thanks to the adverse weather conditions, dangerous situations can develop. Therefore, drivers should regularly check their visibility and prepare their vehicle accordingly.

The correct vehicle preparation

A clear view is essential for safe driving, especially in autumn, where the conditions are often full of surprises. Drivers should clean the slices thoroughly both inside and on the outside to ensure that the view of the street remains unhindered. The cleaning of the wiping water and the control of frost protection are also important points that should be on the checklist.

In addition, it is advisable to check all headlights and taillights for their functionality and ensure that they are set correctly. In view of the coming winter months, the change to winter tires should already be considered. These should have a minimum profile depth of four millimeters and not be older than six years. From October 1st, only winter tires with the so-called alpine symbol are allowed in Germany-an important point to consider.

drive in autumn: safety tips

The journey in autumn requires more attention. In particular, drivers have to increase the distance to the vehicle in front, reduce the speed and switch on the light manually. It is often forgotten that the daytime running lights at dusk is not sufficient, since it only illuminates the vehicle from the front. "The automatic light usually only works at full darkness," emphasizes Jürgen Hildebrandt, traffic expert at ADAC Nordbayern.

fog is also a challenge. The use of the fog lamp lamp is only permitted if the visibility falls below 50 meters. At the same time, the speed should be limited to a maximum of 50 km/h. Motorists should make sure that a clean windshield helps to sprinkle the light less and to reduce glare through the sun.

Another aspect that should not be neglected is the increased risk of game change. Wild animals often cross the streets, especially in the early morning and evening hours. Drivers should be particularly careful here, remain ready to brake and switch off the high beam in the event of a sighting. This helps not to blind the animals and possibly avoid a panicked reaction.

In such a situation, it is important to keep calm: If a collision appears inevitable, it should not be avoided. Rather, it is advisable to slow down the vehicle and stay on track in order to avoid more severe accidents. Nature keeps putting its own challenges, and the safe management of these challenges depends heavily on the behavior of the drivers.

For further information, the ADAC offers a comprehensive overview of the safety tips for the autumn months and urgently advises you to take it seriously to ensure the safety of all road users.
