Doctor suspected of murder: fatal morphine dose in Kelheimer Clinic?
Kelheim, Deutschland - A Lower Bavarian doctor is under serious suspicion of having killed a patient with an overdose of morphine. According to the public prosecutor's office in Regensburg, he is accused of disregarding his medical indication and giving morphine without justifying necessity. The incident occurred in a Kelheim hospital, where a 79-year-old patient died on July 9, 2022. Initial investigations were initiated after the state of health was classified as questionable. The doctor has been in custody since the end of April, while an indictment against him has been raised, as orf that a neuropathological report examined the death of an 89-year-old patient, in which no verifiable connection with Morphin could be determined. This patient also only died nine hours after the anesthetist's layer. Other important toxicological and intensive care examinations are still pending.
While the doctor vehemently denies the allegations and claims that the switch to palliative treatment was justified, the public prosecutor remains unnecessary and potentially murderous in its strict judgment and sees the administration of morphine. The Regensburg Regional Court must now decide whether the indictment is admissible while the doctor is enjoying the presumption of innocence. The investigation into other cases associated with the death of patients are still underway.
