Thomas Müller: Future open! Trainer, expert or board member?
FC Bayern Munich is facing an exciting turnaround! Thomas Müller, the club's record player, is causing a stir with his recent statements about his future. In an interview with Bayerischer Rundfunk, the 35-year-old former national player made it clear that he does not see himself as a stadium announcer: “I can definitely rule that out.” His contract expires at the end of the season and speculation about his retirement is increasing. However, Müller remains vague and says: “Let’s see, then we’ll see.”
Career after football?
The Bayern star's future could also lie outside of football, as Müller is considering a full-time commitment to his stud farm. “At the moment my full focus is on being a player – that’s stressful enough,” he explains. But that's not all! Müller also saw his role as a supplementary player under coach Vincent Kompany as a kind of further training. “There are definitely some parts of being a coach that I like,” he reveals. A coaching job could definitely be in the stars!
The possibilities seem endless! In addition to his coaching job, Müller could also work as a television expert or even on the board of FC Bayern. Supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has already brought him into discussion for a manager position. “There are some roles in the football world that suit me well,” says Müller, who, however, wants to concentrate on the here and now. “I have a great strength in ignoring things that actually have nothing to do with my daily performance.” But the decision about his future is still pending - and the fans are waiting eagerly!
