Telekom strengthens mobile network in Munich: 632 locations and more planned!

Munich, November 06, 2024 - the mobile phone supply in Munich receives a powerful upgrade! Deutsche Telekom has not only built two brand new locations in the past two months, but also expanded five existing locations with LTE and one with the lightning-fast 5G network. These measures increase the mobile phone coverage and ensure an improved bandwidth that makes the Internet in the Bavarian metropolis faster and more reliable. In particular, the quality of reception in buildings benefits considerably!

"The need for bandwidth is constantly increasing - around 30 percent per year. That is why we continue to pace in mobile phone expansion," emphasizes Dr. Markus Jodl, company spokesman for Deutsche Telekom. With 632 locations in the Munich city area and a budget coverage of almost 100 percent, the course is set for the future. And that's just the beginning! By 2026, Telekom plans to add another 115 locations to further strengthen the digital infrastructure.

Telekom is not only on growth course: 360 radio masts should be upgraded with LTE or 5G. In order to be able to implement these ambitious expansion plans, Telekom cooperates closely with municipalities and private property owners. Interested parties who want to offer areas for new locations can contact the German radio tower directly. Telekom currently operates over 36,000 mobile phone locations in Germany and plans to add around 1,500 new ones annually.
