St. Pauli before Bavaria: Can the climber stop the record champions?
St. Pauli before Bavaria: Can the climber stop the record champions?
On Saturday the time has finally come! FC St. Pauli receives FC Bayern Munich in the Millerntor Stadium. A meeting that takes place again in the Bundesliga after almost 5,000 days. The Hamburgers, who are considered to be promoted, are the clear underdog against the record champion, who has further enlarged his impressive trophy collection since the last duel. But the signs are different: St. Pauli has improved a lot of defensively and presents one of the best defensive series of the league with only eleven goals in nine games!
st. Pauli's defensive in focus
The Hamburgers under coach Alexander Blessin went through a remarkable transformation. Your defense chain is now much more defensive and has proven to be stable. St. Pauli is the league -strongest team with over 1,095 kilometers in nine games. But despite this defensive strength, there are problems in the offensive game. With only seven goals scored, they have the weakest attack in the league and fight with poor creativity in the last third. Blessin's team has difficulties, the quick winding moments and counterattacks that he wishes to put into action.
Bayern, on the other hand, are a power on the offensive. They lead in almost all statistics and have already scored 32 goals this season. But they also show weaknesses, especially with quick relocations. St. Pauli could try to use these gaps to surprise the record champions. Oladapo Afolayan could play a key role at his speed to attack Bayern's defense. Another target shooting like 2011 is not to be expected, but the Hamburgers have the chance to assert themselves against Bayern and maybe even take a surprise!
