The Mercedes-Benz JuniorCup will take place on January 11th and 12th, 2025 in the Glaspalast in Sindelfingen. A total of eight U19 teams will compete against each other in the 33rd edition of the renowned youth football tournament. Among the participants are prominent teams such as defending champions VfB Stuttgart, FC Bayern and Manchester United.
The tournament has a long tradition dating back to 1991. Over the years, more than 150 participants have made the leap to becoming national players and the list of former participants also includes greats such as Manuel Neuer, Mesut Özil, Marcus Rashford and Joshua Kimmich. Historically, international teams have only won the tournament five times, highlighting the dominance of German teams.
Details about the tournament
The tournament groups are divided as follows: VfB Stuttgart, 1. FC Heidenheim, Servette Geneva and FC São Paulo play in Group A. Group B is represented by Borussia Mönchengladbach, FC Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Glasgow Rangers. The mode includes 12 preliminary round games, followed by 8 intermediate round games as well as placement and final games. The playing time is twice nine minutes with a two-minute half-time break.
The tournament will be broadcast live from 12 p.m. on both days via WELT. In addition, viewers are offered the opportunity to follow the event via the channels “Sky” and “Sport1” in a free stream and on TV.
The results of the preliminary round on January 11th already show exciting duels: VfB Stuttgart lost 1:4 against 1. FC Heidenheim, while FC Bayern Munich beat Manchester United 2:1. On the final day, January 12th, the semi-finals and the placement games are on the program, and spectators can look forward to further exciting games.
