Land districts Schweinfurt and Main-Spessart intensify waste cooperation
In a pioneering development in the waste management of the districts of Schweinfurt and Main-Spessart, District Administrator Sabine Sitter and District Administrator Florian Töpper signed a decisive new purpose agreement. This agreement, which comes into force on January 1, 2025, stipulates that the elimination of non-combustible waste from the Main-Spessart district will be placed in the hands of the Schweinfurt district in the future. This is done as part of a long-term, successful cooperation that has existed since the 1990s, when they have been part of the Schweinfurt community power plant, as on the website of sw1.news is.
The newly founded cooperation should not only reduce disposal costs, but also increase disposal security. By bundling tasks and waste quantities, both counties benefit by generating lower costs. The district of Main-Spessart is already using the umbrella station at the Rothmühle waste management center for the shredding of bulky waste and sorting out old wood. In addition, around 10,000 cubic meters of seepage water from the Karlstadt landfill is cleaned annually in the cleaning system at AWZ Rothmühle. This partnership ensures that the citizens of both counties benefit from a future -oriented and inexpensive waste management, as in the press releases of main-spessart.de is emphasized.
In addition, at a recent meeting at the AWZ Rothmühle, Töpper and Sitter confirmed their intentions of continuing successful cooperation and also looking for common solutions in other areas, such as marketing paper. The exchange between the counties is active and constructive at both political and administrative levels, which further increases efficiency in waste management. This strategic alliance ensures sensible and environmentally conscious waste disposal, which will continue to be in the future.
