Body found in the Danube: Missing Saal citizen discovered!
A shocking discovery in the Danube near Saal (Kelheim district) is causing a stir! A sunken car was discovered, and inside was the body of a man who has been missing since 2022. The identity of the deceased now seems to be clarified - it is most likely a citizen of the municipality of Saal.
The Lower Bavaria police announced on Monday that the male body was autopsied at the Institute for Forensic Medicine at the University of Erlangen. Fortunately, the initial results of the autopsy show no evidence of external influence or violence. In order to establish the man's identity beyond any doubt, a DNA comparison was ordered, but the result is still pending.
Large-scale operation after body was found
The dramatic operation began when a fisherman discovered the roof of the sunken vehicle. A large contingent of police, fire brigade and DLRG was immediately mobilized. The car was recovered using a workboat from the Waterways and Shipping Administration. Divers from the Kelheim fire department were deployed to secure evidence with underwater cameras. The incident has kept the region in suspense and raises questions that will hopefully be clarified soon.
