A radiant spring day in May 2019 marked the beginning of a political success story: the free voters presented Helmut Petz as her district candidate in order to recapture the office from the CSU. The coup succeeded! In March 2020, Petz prevailed against the CSU candidate Manuel Mück. Despite the challenges of Corona pandemic and the tense budget situation of the district, Petz has not lost his passion for the office. "I want to continue my work," said Petz, but the decision depends on the free voters who have to nominate him again, and the voters who should give him trust. Petz replied that his health and energy is right and that he continues to enjoy the work. He has already achieved a lot together with the district council and would like to continue these successes.

Speculation about a new candidacy from Petz has now ended, which is also important for potential candidates on the district's list of free voters. Schneider emphasizes that Petz 'predecessors were only in office for six years. "It should be at least two term," he emphasizes, in order to maintain the necessary contacts with the state government.
