Petz is fighting for the district office again: stability in stormy times!

A radiant spring day in May 2019 marked the beginning of a political success story: the free voters presented Helmut Petz as her district candidate in order to recapture the office from the CSU. The coup succeeded! In March 2020, Petz prevailed against the CSU candidate Manuel Mück. Despite the challenges of Corona pandemic and the tense budget situation of the district, Petz has not lost his passion for the office. In late Friday afternoon, he announced in a press conference that he would like to run again for the district office.

"I want to continue my work," said Petz, but the decision depends on the free voters who have to nominate him again, and the voters who should give him trust. A crucial influence came from his wife Irene, who was undecided for a long time. Finally she asked: "What speaks against?" Petz replied that his health and energy is right and that he continues to enjoy the work. He has already achieved a lot together with the district council and would like to continue these successes.

stability in turbulent times

The free voters rely on continuity, which Maria Scharlach and Benno Zierer, the leadership figures of the district association, as well as Rainer Schneider, group leader of the Free Voters in the district council, emphasize. "Now is the right time to inform the public," said Scharlach. In view of the turbulent times in which Germany is located, stability is more important than ever, Schneider added. The coming months before and after the new elections in the federal government will be challenging, and people have enough others than deal with municipal personal details.

Speculation about a new candidacy from Petz has now ended, which is also important for potential candidates on the district's list of free voters. Schneider emphasizes that Petz 'predecessors were only in office for six years. "It should be at least two term," he emphasizes, in order to maintain the necessary contacts with the state government. "If they are missing, that would be fatal." Zierer is grateful that, despite the difficult circumstances, Petz explained early on that he wants to "stay with it".
