Free HIV tests in Freising: with a pik for security!
Staudengarten 1, 85356 Freising, Deutschland - In Freising, an HIV test bus from Caritas and the health department caused a sensation! The creative approach enables the citizens to be tested quickly, anonymously and free of charge. Only a small piks in their fingers and after ten minutes everyone can get their result. By Thursday, October 24th, the bus is in front of the Weihenstephan every day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and not only offers tests, but also comprehensive information about VIH, AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases.
rush despite limiting
Surprisingly, the rush exceeded all expectations! "We had to send at least 20 people away today because the tests were quick," reports Johanna Landwehr from Caritas. The cooperation between Caritas and the health department has obviously sparked great demand. Corinna Klaus von der Caritas adds: "When asked, we could have offered three times as many tests." Students and interested parties from the area flocked to make use of the offer - the employees even saw advice in English!
City councilor Joana Bayraktar emphasizes: "HIV is often associated with shame and stigmatization. The test bus is an important offer to create visibility and offer uncomplicated advice." Politicians are enthusiastic about this innovative health care. Leon Eckert, MdB, emphasizes: "The TestBus is a strong way to make health care in rural areas accessible." A reconnaissance day for schools also illustrated the relevance of the topic and ensured that awareness of HIV tests is strengthened.
