The year 2024 is celebrated as "1300 years of Korbinian in Freising", which underlines the long friendship between the two cities.

According to legend, St. Korbinian discovered Kuens around 720 during his search for a calm and secluded life. After a crush with Duke Grimoald, he left Freising to settle down in Kuens, which justified the historical connections between these places. These relationships have existed to this day, even after the South Tyrolean possessions finally fell to the Habsburg Tyrol in 1802.
