The reason for this is a traffic accident that occurred on January 4, 2025, at 5:33 p.m., between the Erlangen-Tennenlohe junction (84) and the Fürth/Erlangen intersection. Road narrowings and traffic jams between the two junctions are expected until 9:33 p.m. At its peak, the traffic jam reached a length of 2.5 km. In addition, the hard shoulder is blocked. Accidents on the Erlanger A3

In another incident on the A3 near Erlangen, several accidents involving a total of twelve vehicles occurred within just 45 minutes on September 16, 2024. Ten people were injured and the property damage amounted to tens of thousands of euros Nordbayern.de reported.

The first accident, a rear-end collision in the construction site area, occurred at around 1:20 p.m., shortly before the Höchstadt-Ost junction. Seven vehicles were involved on wet roads. Six people aged 22 to 70 sustained minor injuries, while four of them had to be taken to hospital. The material damage was estimated at at least 50,000 euros. Due to the accidents, the A3 was closed in both directions - the Passau direction was opened after about an hour, while the Würzburg direction remained closed until the evening hours.

A short time after the first accident, shortly after 2 p.m., another incident occurred at the Fürth/Erlangen motorway junction: a truck hit a car that had previously braked, followed by a tractor-trailer. The 64-year-old car driver and his 63-year-old wife suffered minor injuries, while the property damage was estimated at at least 35,000 euros. The tractor-trailer had to be towed away. A third accident occurred almost at the same time when a truck driver overlooked a car while changing lanes. In this case, two people were slightly injured and the property damage amounted to at least 20,000 euros.
