Training positions in Ingolstadt: Offer sinks, search remains tough!

In the alarming record of the training market for 2023/2024, there are violent currents: Companies are desperately looking for trainees, while the number of interested parties remains almost constant. While the training offers of the companies are 3,658 positions - a decline of almost 5 percent compared to the previous year - the challenge of finding suitable talents continues to pile up. Johannes Kolb, the head of the Ingolstadt Employment Agency, summarizes: "To train the willingness, is high, but both sides are difficult."

drastic declines in individual regions are unmistakable! The city of Ingolstadt reported a decline of 37 training positions to 1,142, while the districts of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen and Pfaffenhofen also had to accept losses. The district of Eichstätt remains the only positive example with an increase of 20 places to 1,008. The companies had managed to fill their positions better - only 668 places remained vacant - but the lawsuit about difficult framework conditions cannot be ignored.

The career choice is still a mystery to many young people! From October 2023 to September 2024, 2,495 those interested in training were looking for help from the employment agency, an inconspicuous increase of only 16 applicants compared to the previous year. Only in the city of Ingolstadt the number of interested parties at 14. But the success story looks different: 1,503, i.e. 60 percent of applicants, found their place in a dual training. The rest of the applicants opted for alternative ways such as school or internships.

But there are also dark clouds in the sky: 74 applicants have no contract in their hands! This is three percent of the total number. The Employment Agency intensifies its reintegration activities in order to combine these “orphaned” talents with open training positions. The online offer, including innovative tools for career orientation, offers additional support and is intended to help close this frightening discrepancy between supply and demand.
