Karlsfeld: New rights for seniors and disabled people - one step forward?
Karlsfeld, Deutschland - It is bubbling in Karlsfeld! In its last meeting, the main and finance committee decided on a controversial regulation for the disabled officers and the senior advisory board. This decision could significantly influence the democratic participation of the two groups. While the Green Group is pushing for more rights, the new regulations seem to be a restriction. A hot topic that heats the minds!
The Greens had already called for the rules of the local council to change the rules of procedure in order to create an independent hearing and application right for seniors, disabled people and young people. However, the main committee rejected such a change and instead decided to adapt the statutes of the disabled representative and the senior advisory board to that of the youth council. This led to a heated debate in which the Grünen faction leader, Heike Miebach, denounced that the new regulations would restrict the rights of the officers. "This is an obstacle!" She called outraged.
discussion about information obligations
The discussion was further fueled by the disabled person Sabine Leitl, who pointed out the lack of information. The senior advisory board was also dissatisfied. The deputy chairman, Siegfried Weber, said that the collaboration was unproblematic, but the demands for more transparency became loud. Marco Brandstetter from Alliance for Karlsfeld and others called for an obligation to provide information from the municipality in order to better involve the advisory boards. "Add the documents of the public agenda items with the invitation, then that would be done," said Beate Full from the SPD.
The administration now has the task of deciding where the advisory boards can have a say. There was agreement that the public documents will in future be sent to the disabled officers and the senior advisory board. But the question remains: Will the new regulations actually lead to more participation or are they just an empty promise? Mayor Stefan Kolbe sees the three committees as completely different and rejects an alignment of the expense allowances. The discussion about the rights of the advisory boards in Karlsfeld is far from over!
