Great interest in wind power: Citizens support five new wind turbines in Röhrmoos
Röhrmoos, Deutschland - The excitement in Röhrmoos is tangible! At a fully occupied information event in the Riedenzhofen shooting club with 170 interested, the mammoth project for the construction of five gigantic wind turbines in the Vierkirchner wood was presented. The citizens are enthusiastic and ask many questions, while critical voices are almost missing. The mood? Overwhelmingly positive!
a strong team for clean energy
Mayor Dieter Kugler (CSU) is a clear supporter of the project, which provides for wind turbines of impressive 262.5 meters. He emphasizes that the new Bavarian building code gives the municipalities the chance to take such projects into their own hands. "If we don't act, external investors will use the areas," he warns. And so the municipality of Röhrmoos, planner Peter Beermann and the Viktoria von Butler Foundation work hand in hand to set the course for sustainable energy future.
Originally, only four wind turbines were to be created, but the municipality of Vierkirchen is now also on board, which expands the project on five plants. A North Bavarian team of investors initially was interested, but retired, which led to this strong local partnership. "We don't want external investors, but energy in citizens' hands," explains Martin Bednarz from the Röhrmoos-Vierkirchen Citizenship.
environmentally friendly and profitable
Species protection is a central topic, and there is good news here: The planned wind turbines are equipped with an automatic switch-off for bats. Peter Beermann, who explains the technical details, assures that all legal requirements are met. The distances to residential areas have been enlarged so that the residents have to worry.
The investments are huge: around 50 million euros are needed, whereby the citizen participation should cover half of the costs. In addition, 5 million euros are planned for a substation. While some skeptical voices, such as those of the Nature Conservation Association, are loud, the majority of the population remains optimistic. Mayor Kugler hopes that the wind turbines will go into operation by 2027/2028 and benefit the community from future trade tax revenue. The future of energy supply in Röhrmoos looks promising!
