Delmenhorst Art Prize: Young talents conquer the gallery!
The House of Coburg has awarded the “Delmenhorst Art Prize” for the first time! The winners are the creative minds Tomás Maglione, Vanessa Amoah Opoku and Fynn Ribbeck. Each of the talented artists can look forward to an exhibition at the Städtische Galerie Delmenhorst in June 2025 and receive prize money of 5,000 euros. The prize is awarded every two years and is intended to support aspiring graduates of art schools in German-speaking countries.
This initiative promises a total of 50,000 euros for the awards! Significant financial contributions come from general practitioner Calin Pirvu and the Von der Heyde Cordes Foundation, each of which is providing 20,000 euros. In addition, the city of Delmenhorst is contributing 5,000 euros – a real treat for the art scene!
The jury praised the outstanding achievements
The selection process for the art prize was rigorous! A competent five-person jury, including well-known experts such as Jennifer Chert from the “Chert Lüdde” gallery in Berlin, selected the winners from a list of impressive nominees. Each of the award winners brings a unique perspective to contemporary art, as the jury noted. Maglione from Frankfurt addresses urban situations with a mixture of humor and visual poetry. Opoku's digital artworks penetrate themes such as migration and postcolonial thought, while Ribbeck's works transform historical events into dreamlike visual narratives.
This honor is not only a step in the right direction for the selected artists, but also brings a breath of fresh air to Germany's art scene!
