1. Sophia

2. Emilia

3. Emma

4. Hannah

The most frequently chosen boy names are:

5. Elias

regional peculiarities

A remarkable difference to the nationwide trends shows the boys and girls: Nationwide, Noah, Matteo, Elias and Luca were chosen as favorites alongside Leon, while the girls Mia were in fifth dominate. In Bavaria, on the other hand, names such as Johannes, Katharina, Ludwig, Magdalena, Simon and Theresa are particularly popular.

The evaluation is based on a comprehensive analysis of data from 391 cities in Germany, with 67 percent of the data from registry offices and 33 percent of maternity clinics. The examination only counted the first first names and summarized the same phonetically of the same.

There is no official first name statistics in Germany, but Knud Bielefeld's ranking lists have been published since 2006 and draw a clear picture of the name in Bavaria and beyond how Merkur reported. Similar statistics are also created by the Society for German Language.

Another interesting aspect is that since 2018, parents can choose “divers” as a gender at birth. However, this selection option is rarely used, which complicates the creation of a reliable ranking for this group, such as t-online
