Bamberg warns: Fake competition for indoor swimming pool tickets exposed!

A dubious Facebook competition is causing alarm in Bamberg! The Bamberg public utility company has issued an urgent warning against taking part in a supposed competition for two annual tickets to the indoor swimming pools. Many citizens were attracted to participate by an advertisement on the “Leisure Activities” Facebook page, without knowing, however, that the municipal utilities are in no way affiliated with this offer, as the municipal utilities made clear. In an official warning, they call on people to stay away from the competition and not to disclose any personal information, among other things Mercury reported.

Bamberger Stadtwerke was approached by several customers about the competition, which included a survey that also required private data such as telephone numbers to be provided. Jan Giersberg, the public utility's press spokesman, describes how those affected initially believed they could win real free tickets, only to be later harassed by dubious sellers who had apparently received their contact details through the competition. “People were of course upset because they thought the municipal utilities were organizing the competition and selling their data to third parties,” Giersberg explained in Franconia.

Additionally, Giersberg questioned how serious the competition could be. There were several inconsistencies in his analysis, such as the mention of “Bamberg indoor swimming pools”, even though there is only one indoor swimming pool in Bamberg. In addition, there are no annual tickets, only season tickets for outdoor pools. In view of this false information, the municipal utilities urge you not to take part in the competition and not to disclose any personal information.
