B 85 at Bruck: Construction work almost completed - traffic release is approaching!
The B 85 near Bruck has reached an important stage: the extensive construction work on the roadway renewal is about to end and are to be ended on Friday, October 11th. The official approval of the traffic will take place in the course of the morning, as the state building office Amberg-Sulzbach announced in a message.
In just seven weeks, the road was completely renewed at a distance of about 4.6 kilometers. This included the renewal of the asphalt binder and cover layer as well as the maintenance of the adjacent banquet areas. Overall, an asphalt area of around 40,000 square meters was processed, which represents a considerable effort.
innovative materials for improved health protection
It should be emphasized that a new type of asphalt was used in the second construction phase, which is referred to as the "temperature -defined asphalt". This is a conventional rolling asphalt, the installation temperature of which was reduced by targeted measures. This procedure aims to reduce the emissions of vapors and aerosols during installation in order to protect the health of the working people. This procedure was tested for the first time as a pilot project in the Schwandorf region.
The total costs for the renovation measure amount to around 1.5 million euros. In view of the measures and the technologies used, it becomes clear that not only the street infrastructure, but also the well -being of construction workers is taken seriously.
traffic impairments still possible
In the coming days, however, traffic impairments between Bruck and Mappach could again occur. The reason for this is damage to the steel protection planks caused by a subcontractor during the construction work. Unfortunately, the necessary repair of these elements could not be completed as part of the full closure. The state building authority asks for understanding and indicates that the correction of the damage is made up for by the insurance of the polluter.
The upcoming traffic release on the B 85 is a positive development for the region and a step towards an improved transport infrastructure. In addition, the innovative procedure for the construction work shows that it is possible to combine the latest technology and health aspects in road construction.
