In Meitingen and Königsbrunn are self-assertion and self-defense in the spotlight! The sad occasion? Women and girls are always victims of violence - even in their own four walls. In order to counteract this, Nicole Pfeilmaier and her team from Twin-Taekwondo show how to defend yourself effectively. On Saturday, November 23, a hands-on event will take place in the e-center in Via Claudia in Meitingen, followed by a similar offer on Monday, November 25th, in the Neo shopping center in Königsbrunn.

Nicole Pfeilmaier impressively demonstrates how quickly you can free yourself from a threatening situation. Your techniques are simple and effective - a targeted finger stitch in the eye of the attacker is often sufficient to deter it. She is supported by Nico Cavaliere, the provisional chairman of the Working Group on Police Augsburg Land of the CSU district association, which initiated the campaign days to draw attention to the alarming numbers of police crime statistics. In 2023, over 79,000 assault were registered in Bavaria, with more than 40 percent of the perpetrators had no relationship with their victims.

A strong sign against violence

Cavaliere emphasizes: "The fault is never with the victim itself." This is particularly important in cases of domestic violence, where over 20,000 cases took place in the family. The number of unreported cases could be even higher, since many women cannot escape from their violent relationship from social isolation and economic dependence. Johannes Daxbacher, founder of the judo department in the Königsbrunn police sports club, also calls for showing civil courage and not looking away when you witness to violence.

The campaign days are not only a call for self-defense, but also an appeal to society to actively oppose violence. Sports activity not only strengthens self -confidence, but can also save lives.
