Aluminum works Wutöschingen: strike for higher wages and better future!
Wutöschingen, Deutschland - In a powerful protest, the employees of the aluminum works in Wutöschingen went on strike for higher wages and training allowances on Monday. The Wutöschinger workers, supported by IG Metall, call for a significant increase in wage in order to compensate for the drastically increased cost of living. "Food prices have increased over 30 percent. This is a great burden for many," emphasizes Ferhat Orak, Chairman of the Aluminum works council. The Wutöschinger are determined to fight for their rights!
claims and employer offers in focus
IG Metall has made clear demands: it requires a wage increase of seven percent for the next twelve months and 170 euros more for trainees. In contrast, the employers have made an offer that only provides for an increase of 1.7 percent for 27 months from July 2025 and 1.9 percent from July 2026. "This is too late, too little and an too long term," criticizes Thomas Kantelhardt, union secretary of IG Metall. The 3.9 million employees in the metal and electrical industry urgently need more money to boost the economy!
With more than 130 participants, the warning strike was a strong sign of solidarity among employees. They not only demand higher wages, but also better options between time and money for shift workers, nurses and parents. Union secretary André Beyer explains: "A wage restraint would not solve any problems, but only dampen the urgently needed internal demand." The Wutöschingen workers are determined to raise their voice and fight for their rights!Details | |
