Tuttlinger train station: 8.5 million euros for the big renovation!
The Tuttlinger Bahnhof is facing a spectacular transformation! In a decisive meeting on Thursday, the technical committee of the local council launched the monument -friendly renovation of the station. The city of Tuttlingen plans to invest a whopping 8.5 million euros in this project and hopes to get up to 50 percent of the costs through funding.
The first measures are already in full swing! The removal of the glass installations from the station hall has already caused an impressive change. The municipal councils agree: the room now looks much more inviting. Building director Florian Steinbrenner announced that new entrance doors will soon be installed, large ceiling lights will be attached and modern seating.
Large construction work is about
The really big construction work should begin next year. The committee has recommended the implementation of the variant 1.1.1, which focus on the renovation of the external appearance and the ground floor. The demolition of the kitchen cultivation and the former disco, the complete renovation of the facades and roof as well as the installation of a photovoltaic system are planned
But that's just the beginning! A second construction phase could increase the costs to a total of 12.6 million euros, even if the upper floors are being renovated. Tirers are currently looking for the ground floor, where gastronomy and a kiosk are to move in. The former luggage hall is converted into a bicycle garage while the travel agency stays in its usual place.
Hope for financial support
In parallel to the planning, funding is also applied for to support the renovation. Head of construction Steinbrenner estimates that up to 50 percent of the construction costs could be funded. The committee has also recommended that the station to be included in the "Sonnenbuckel/Weimarstrasse" renovation area. Whether this will succeed will be decided in the next two weeks, said Mayor Michael Beck.
