Federal election and OHA meeting: guilds have to reschedule!

A scream from carnival enthusiasts! On Tuesday morning, the date for the federal election was set for February 23rd - and that falls exactly on the big OHA meeting in Ostrach! As the political waves rage, the fools prepare for their annual spectacle, scheduled to take place that same weekend. A drama for the organizers!

The OHA meeting, which is organized by the Ostrach, Herbertingen, Altshausen and Scheer guilds, attracts around 3,000 fools every year. Guild master Rolf Reisky is already in turmoil: “My phone didn’t stand still this morning!” Despite the new election announcement, the fools' meeting remains unpostponed. “The invitations have already been sent out and we can’t simply cancel or postpone the OHA,” he explains resolutely.

Polling station has to go

The Buchbühlhalle, which normally serves as a polling station, will be used for the guild master's reception on Sunday. “The polling station will probably be moved to the elementary school gymnasium,” said Reisky. This means there are two polling stations right next to each other - a pragmatic solution in the midst of chaos! “We still have a few village community centers, we’ll definitely find a place there,” he adds.

The parade route must also be adjusted because constant access to the town hall must be guaranteed on election day. “We see everything in a very relaxed manner,” says the guild master. "This isn't a problem. There's nothing that doesn't have a solution." And that is the true carnival mentality – even in turbulent times, the focus remains on fun!
