Indonesian trainee inspires in the Black Forest: a success for BIW!

in Schonach, where the future of training flourished, the Indonesian trainee Bagas Kurniawan has found its new home! The young man not only took his place in professional life at the Burger Industrialwerke (BIW) company, but also inspires with his motivation and willingness to learn in the field of tool mechanics. The training management is enthusiastic about his progress and its commitment. Kurniawan already independently shows visitors the state-of-the-art filming and milling machines- a real star in the training workshop!

"Bagas has worked here within a very short time," enthuses instructor Angie Lafrentz. "His linguistic and professional progress is visible every day." The team in the training workshop, consisting of four experienced journeyman and seven trainees, offers a friendly and collegial atmosphere that Kurniawan immediately felt. Pietro Coviello, head of the tool construction department, praises the integration of the young Indonesian: "His willingness to integrate fully into the company right from the start." But the situation is not only gratifying for Kurniawan: Biw plans to bring more international talents to Schonach in order to counter the lack of applications in the region.

long -term perspectives for young talents

Regional business development sees great potential in international trainees like Kurniawan. Project manager Nurul Aini explains: "The labor market situation in Indonesia offers little perspectives. The young people are very interested in staying here in the long term." Therefore, comprehensive care is essential for the trainees who go beyond vocational training. From bank accounts to school materials - the project participants take care of all aspects of life in Germany.

Kurniawan itself is overjoyed with his decision to leave home. "I feel comfortable at work and am in a great team," he says radiantly. The positive experiences at BIW have already led to over 120 companies asked inquiries for training positions in 2025. The project should grow and continue to enable young people from Indonesia to qualify - a profit for everyone involved!
