Christmas cookies for a good cause: Vesperkirche bakes 30 kilos!
Schwäbisch Gmünd. In the previous time it gets really hot for the Vesperkirchen team! You have to bake an incredible 30 kilos of cookies by November 20. This is not a sugar flicker! "We already have ten kilos," reports Inge Pfeifer, who is doing everything with her team. "Everyone knows that they have to deliver the cookies by Wednesday or I will pick them up." A clear call to hurry!
The team, consisting of 15 committed members, is already busy at work. Each of them has the challenge of baking two kilos of Christmas cookies. "Everyone really makes a lot of effort, baking very different varieties and are passionate about it," says Pfeifer. She has already baked three and a half kilos of cookies, including delicious cookie cutters and almond cookies. Why this effort? Many people can or do not want to bake and therefore use the delicacies from the Christmas market.
Cookies for the Christmas market
This year the Vesperkirchen team supports the Lions Club at its Christmas market stand. "They always sell cookies and donate the profit," explains Pfeifer. A total of three clubs are involved and each receives a share of the proceeds. After a two -year break, they are back at the stand and ready to bring their cookies to the man and woman.
"Last year the cookies were completely sold out after a week", Pfeifer is optimistic. Homemade pastries are known and popular. A total of 90 kilos of cookies are to be delivered by the three groups. "It will be a child's play," says Pfeifer, adding that you have just held the Vesperkirche, where 2500 lunches and 150 cakes were distributed. "On Monday I picked up a truck that came fresh from the oven - that just thundered!"
