Lukas' dream of a barrier-free life is finally becoming a reality!
Construction work on the outdoor lift for eight-year-old Lukas, who has suffered from hemiplegia since a stroke at the age of three, is progressing steadily. In the last few days, underfloor heating was installed and screed was laid, completing an important construction phase. The elevator shaft has already been set up and a breakthrough has been made into Lukas' room. These are not only progress in construction, but also steps towards a barrier-free living environment for Lukas, who is faced with the challenges of stairs every day as his single mother Melanie often carries him. The progress delights the family and gives new hope to realizing their dream.
The fundraising campaign, which will take place in December 2024 VOL.AT The goal was to raise 100,000 euros for the lift. Thanks to the support of the population and numerous companies, this goal was quickly achieved. Melanie Bitschnau, Lukas' mother, is grateful for the solidarity and generous help that the family is receiving during this difficult time.
Auction to support
To finance the outdoor lift, an auction will be held HEADTOPICS continued as demand exceeds expectations. The auction has been extended by several days to allow a wider audience to support. Among the auctioned items are signed jerseys and a unique experience: a ride with a famous KITT. The proceeds will be used specifically for the lift. Lukas was particularly happy about the two jerseys that were brought to him by a VOL.AT editor.
Another highlight of the auction is Katharina Liensberger's signed racing suit, which will be auctioned on Tuesday. Such initiatives are an important part of the commitment to help that benefits Lukas and his family.
Barrier-free construction
The need for barrier-free living is not only evident in Lukas' case, but also an urgent social concern. Various funding programs support barrier-free conversion in the German federal states. In Baden-Württemberg, for example, there are loans to finance property for families with at least one child. In Hesse, measures to reduce barriers are again being promoted. These programs are crucial to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities and enabling them to lead independent lives. Additional information about these programs is available through the Department of Social Services, which is an important resource for affected families.
