VfB Ulm: Women want to get started in the second half of the 3rd league!
Next weekend, the VfB Ulm women's team starts the second half of the 3rd league. After a first half of the season with three wins and a total of ten points, the team is in seventh place in the table. This result is less pleasing than last season, when the Ulm women took fourth place at the winter break. However, under the new coach Dennis Böttner, the team fulfilled its duty by clearly winning 3-0 against the three teams placed behind them SWP reported.
Last season, VfB Ulm's first women's team reached sixth place in the 3rd league and is now playing in this league for the fifth time in a row. However, the Ulm team did not achieve their self-defined goal for the season of finishing in the upper midfield. Factors such as injuries, illnesses and pregnancy led to a lack of experienced players. Despite these setbacks, some games were won confidently, which ultimately led to relegation. After the season there were several departures, including Linda Herkommer and Lena Kälberer, as well as changes in the coaching team, so that the coaching duo Rainer Eichhorn and Klaus Schädle left the team. Jochen Lehner was hired as the new coach to form a new team from the remaining players, which is a big challenge vfb-ulm.de reported.
New team and goal for the season
The Ulm women are looking forward to the upcoming games in the Weststadthalle, while they are also aware of the challenges of the season. The squad has been strengthened with seven new additions, including players from Biberach, Paris and local talent, and three youth players are also set to receive more playing time. The goal for the coming season is to stay in the league, as only one team is expected to be relegated. The team will play a total of 16 games until the end of March, including matches against well-known teams such as SSC Bad Vilbel, USC Konstanz and TSV G.A. Stuttgart.
