Storm warning for Karlsruhe: Up to 85 km/h – caution is advised!
Red alert in Karlsruhe! The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued an official weather warning warning of violent squalls that can reach speeds of up to 85 km/h in unprotected areas. The city is preparing for possible damage while citizens are urged to exercise caution.
On Tuesday afternoon it remained relatively calm in Karlsruhe despite the storm warning. The police only reported three motorcycles blown over in a parking lot in the eastern part of the city and a fallen tree on Pfinztaler Dahlienstrasse. The situation appears to be under control, but the warning remains in force until 7 p.m. A spokesman for the KVV confirmed that there have been no disruptions to the tram network so far - a small relief in these stormy times.
Danger from the storm
The DWD’s warning should not be underestimated! The strong winds can cause branches to break and loose objects such as patio furniture to fly through the air. The public is urged to secure everything outdoors to avoid damage and injury. Police forces have not yet been called out to respond to storm damage, but the situation could change quickly if the wind continues to gain strength.
