Strike chaos in Stuttgart: commuters have to expect failures again!
Stuttgart, Deutschland - Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) - chaos in local transport! Commuters and travelers in the southwest have to prepare for massive delays and failures again. On the second day of the warning strike, which was continued as planned, the effects are dramatic. The Südwestdeutsche Landesverkehrs-GmbH (SWEW) and the Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (AVG) are severely affected. The S-Bahns in the Karlsruhe area in particular stand still, and the location is comparable to the disorders of Monday.
The strike measures affect numerous routes in the Rhein-Neckar, Südbaden, Fils-Neckar-Alb, Heilbronn-Neckar-Franken and Ulm-Oberschwaben. On Monday there were already massive failures in bus and train traffic, and similar disorders can also be expected for Tuesday and Wednesday. Passengers are urgently asked to look for alternative transport options so as not to get stuck in traffic jams.
Verdi increases the pressure before negotiations
The strip on the SWEW should last up to and including Wednesday, while the AVG initially only announced one warning strike day. The reason for these drastic measures is the ongoing negotiations on the railway collective agreement, in which Verdi and the employers' association are still far apart. The union plans to increase the pressure on employers before the negotiations on Thursday. Similar warning strikes were already in October and November, and the situation remains tense.
