International cyber fraudsters: Kosovar from northern Macedonia delivered!

Stuttgart, Deutschland - Stuttgart (ots)

A big blow to cybercriminal call center! On November 6, 2024, a 32-year-old Kosovar citizen from Northern Macedonia was delivered to Germany, which is considered the head of a fraudulent call center. This success success follows an intensive international examination that started in April 2024 when twelve call centers in Europe and Lebanon were searched. The campaign was coordinated by the Cybercrime Center of the Attorney General Karlsruhe and the LKA Baden-Württemberg.

The brazen perpetrators had called people in German -speaking countries since June 2023 and pretended to be representatives of banks. Your goal? To make the victims transfer money to accounts controlled by the criminals. In frightening many cases, the personal data of the victims had previously been obtained through fake bank websites (phishing), which illustrates how unscrupulously this was carried out.

The accused is suspected of having played a key role in this perfidious network. He was responsible for renting offices, recruiting new employees and the procurement of telephone numbers of the victims. According to the investigation, successful calls were carried out between October 2023 and February 2024 in at least nine cases, with two victims suffering a common loss of around EUR 30,000. But many attempts failed: either by distrust of the injured party or by watching the transfers.

The accused's arrest was the result of comprehensive cooperation between the authorities in Northern Macedonia, Kosovo and Germany. It is now in custody, while the investigation as part of the "Pandora" operation continues. These revelations show that investigators are willing to act against international fraud and that the time of unscrupulous fraudsters may come to an end!
