Scary incidents in Heidelberg: Police warn parents and children!
Heidelberg/Sandhausen/Rhein-Neckar district (ots)
Alarm mood in Heidelberg and Sandhausen! Two disturbing incidents involving children encountering suspicious men were reported on Saturday. In Sandhausen, an unknown man conspicuously followed an 11-year-old girl, but did not make contact. Uncertain, the child turned to a postman, who immediately informed the police. However, a large-scale search for the unknown man was unsuccessful - the man seemed to have been swallowed up by the earth!
But that wasn't everything! In Heidelberg-Wieblingen, another 11-year-old girl experienced a similar disturbing situation: a driver asked her for directions - but the questions sounded suspicious to the young lady. She immediately fled. The Mannheim criminal police have now started an investigation, but so far have not been able to identify any criminal behavior. The police warn urgently against the spread of false reports and emphasize: Neither in Heidelberg, Mannheim nor in the Rhein-Neckar district have children “disappeared”.
Safety first!
The police advise parents to sensitize their children and give clear instructions. Children should never go out with strangers without parental permission - this is extremely important! It is strongly recommended to have discussions about such critical situations, but without creating unnecessary fears. Children must learn that they can and are allowed to say “NO!”
Additionally, children should never put information such as their name or address on bags or backpacks. In an emergency, they should know where they can get help and not hide but be able to call loudly for help. The police can always be reached via the emergency number 110. Safety is the highest priority!
