Heidelberg printing machines: 450 job cuts due to high costs!
Heidelberger printing machines has announced a dramatic step: Around 450 out of a total of 4,000 jobs are to be dismantled at the headquarters in Wiesloch-Walldorf. This corresponds to more than ten percent of the total workforce. The mechanical engineer, who is listed in the SDAX, is pursuing a clear course for reducing costs and competitiveness with the help of this measure. The company burdened high location costs, so that savings in the millions are necessary in order to run the company on a solid financial basis. According to Blackout News is planned to reduce personnel costs by more than 100 million euros within the next three years.
background and strategy
The high personnel costs in Germany, which are around 800 million euros annually, represent a significant cost factor. To ensure this financing is crucial for the future of the company. In order to better manage the burden of the high wages and ancillary costs, a location guarantee for 3500 jobs will be sought until the end of 2028. The aim of this measure is to increase efficiency and at the same time ensure necessary investments in modern technologies. In close coordination with the works council and the IG Metall, a "future plan for strengthening competitiveness" was developed, which is aimed at socially compatible solutions, as Springer reports.
The job cuts is not only a reaction to economic difficulties, but also a strategic step to adapt to the changing market conditions. The management considers the adjustment to be necessary in order to remain competitive in the future. The reducing staff should help to tighten the internal structures and optimize processes. Despite the difficult circumstances, the Heidelberg printing machine committee shows commitment to a responsible transition to a more sustainable corporate structure.
