Car crashes into barn roof: boy seriously injured on trampoline!

On July 20, 2025, around 8:00 p.m., a serious accident occurred in Bohmte, Lower Saxony, which had tragic consequences for numerous people involved. A car left the road, hit a parked vehicle and crashed through a hedge. In a garden 1.5 meters deep, the vehicle hit a trampoline on which a seven-year-old boy was playing. The impact was so violent that the car was thrown into the air by the uneven terrain and crashed into the roof of a barn at a height of around three meters, reports vol.at.

The seven-year-old boy was seriously injured. According to initial medical assessments, danger to life cannot be ruled out. The five occupants of the vehicle involved in the accident, including the 42-year-old driver and his 43-year-old wife, also suffered injuries. While the driver and his two sons (11 and 12 years old) escaped with minor injuries, the wife was seriously injured. A 13-year-old boy in the vehicle also suffered minor injuries.

Rescue measures and emergency services

Rescue efforts began immediately after a resident heard the accident and alerted the emergency services. All injured people were transported to nearby hospitals by ambulance. 52 firefighters, 12 THW workers and various ambulances were deployed at the scene of the accident, including an emergency doctor. The fire department worked with a technical consultant from the Technical Relief Agency to assess the statics of the damaged barn roof.

The accident site was marked by torn branches, broken bricks and the destroyed trampoline, which illustrates the extent of the damage. The police secured the evidence and took photographs until the early hours of the morning. The accident vehicle was taken out of the barn roof with a crane and confiscated. A blood sample was taken from the driver, alcohol was ruled out as a cause of the accident, and his driver's license was also confiscated. Support from emergency pastors was offered to the affected families.
