A14 expansion: Delays by 2030-Elbe bridge with Eiffel Tower steel!
The A14 will be completed at the earliest in 2030. Delays from ecological measures and pipeline laying are crucial.
A14 expansion: Delays by 2030-Elbe bridge with Eiffel Tower steel!
The A14 motorway will turn out to be a real mammoth project! Holger Behrmann, overall project manager of the A14 at German Unity, long-distance street planning and construction society (Deges), has the explosive message: The section from Osterburg to Seehausen will not be completed before 2030. Although the Deges has been officially responsible for this section since autumn 2022, the challenges are huge and time is pushing!
Autobahn GmbH, founded on September 13, 2018, took the planning and construction of the German motorways in its own hands. But reality looks different! Before the excavators can roll, ecological compensation measures must first be implemented, which lead to a waiting time of two years. This includes hanging bird boxes and laying a pipeline to the Leuna oil refinery, which can only be tackled after the next revision in autumn 2025. The archaeological work is still pending - a real bureaucratic labyrinth!
Steel giant over the Elbe
But not everything runs slow! The Elbe Bridge between Seehausen and Wittenberge takes on shapes. Project manager Kathrin Fiedler from Deges proudly reports: "We have finished around 300 meters of the bridge!" With a total length of 412 meters, the bridge is built with over 8,800 tons of steel - this is more than the Eiffel Tower! For two and a half years, the individual parts have been pushed over the Elbe using an innovative shelter. An impressive building that will connect the region!
While the preparations for the Osterburg section - Seehausen stalls, Autobahn GmbH plans to complete the stormed section of Stendal - Osterburg by 2028. This section, which leads from the B188 to the Easter Business junction, will have long since been released. So the A14 remains a topic that heats the minds and puts the patience of the drivers to the test!
