New exhibition concept in the HGM: History meets modern art!
In Vienna, the Army History Museum (HGM) is fundamentally redesigned to bring the exhibition halls up to date. After 70 years there are many stocks and exhibits that have so far fascinated visitors, the focus of the measures. Restorer Andreas Sulz explains: "These are our most valuable and rarest stocks. We will preserve them a bit and store them in the meantime until all repair measures are taken." The previous exhibition, which dates from 1955, is intended to give way to a modern concept that meets the requirements of today, said director Georg Hoffmann. "There are little text and many visual objects that tell the story less and not embed," he added. However, the renovation period and the return of the exhibits to the public remain uncertain, while under the title "Objects in the focus" discussion events on selected pieces are offered to illuminate their problematic connotations, as reported.
At the same time, the Städtische Museum Braunschweig presents impressive new advertisements by designer Berthold Hoffmann. Stainless steel and copper objects such as plates and bowls are exhibited in the atrium of the house on the Löwenwall, which were donated by the ceramic artist Lotte Reimers. These objects are characterized by their simple, functional design and are part of the museum's important form collection. Berthold Hoffmann, who was born in Heidelberg in 1955, has made a name for itself through the design of everyday devices made of different materials. He is considered a master of his field and was awarded the "German Design Award Winner" for his excellent designs. The municipal museum is barrier-free and is happy about numerous visitors who can visit the exhibition as part of the museum card or at reduced prices, as regionalheute.de reported.Details | |
