Wiener Neustadt: Rathaus is being renovated, new ice rink is planned!
The city of Wiener Neustadt has started with the first measures to renovate the old town hall and to build a new ice rink. Significant decisions were made in a first joint reign on Friday. Mayor Klaus Schneeberger and other government members emphasized the motifs "did not manage but shape it" and "not dream but do it".
The renovation of the old town hall is a central project. The historic building, which was built in the 15th century, is extensively renovated after more than 30 years. The cost of this measure amounts to around 20 million euros, with a planned completion by 2026. In the renovation work, adjustments are included in the electrics, heating and ventilation, and new jobs for city employees are also created. Such projects are in accordance with current trends of adaptive reuse that aim to use historical buildings for new purposes and at the same time reduce waste and reduce the need for new building materials, such as Kurier reports.
The planned ice rink is part of a wider strategy that is supposed to improve the quality of life in Wiener Neustadt. Within the new integration concepts that promote education and culture for all generations, the integration of schools is crucial. In addition, new consultation hours and personal response points are to be set up at the municipal apartments to improve communication with the citizens.
The city government is committed to preserving historical values and at the same time met modern requirements. Adaptive reuse in urban development stands for a sustainable concept and meets an increasingly positive response among the population.
