Star singers from Wiesbaden demand: Strengthen children's rights now!
On January 6, 2025, the star singers from Wiesbaden visited the Hessian Ministry of Culture, Education and Opportunities. The aim of the visit was to bring the blessing of singing the Epiphany and to draw attention to the rights of children worldwide. Minister Armin Schwarz received the star singers and thanked them for their commitment. The motto of the Star Singers 2025 is: “Raise your voice! – Star singing for children’s rights”.
Around 250 million children, especially girls, have no access to education. In addition, 160 million children have to work in exploitative and dangerous conditions. Minister Schwarz emphasized the need to act and support children in the fight for a better future. In this context, the Hessian Ministry of Culture donated 300 euros to support the star singer campaign. The star singers campaign for children's rights, especially the right to education, and mobilize people to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged children.
Action to strengthen children's rights
The Epiphany Singing is the largest solidarity campaign by children for children worldwide. The commitment of the Wiesbaden star singers is an urgent call to stand up for the rights of children. In addition, special teaching materials are available for the Star Singer Campaign 2025 that deal with the rights of children, such as sternsinger.de reported.
These materials are linked to the film “Willi and Children's Rights” and address the topic in three locations: Turkana in Kenya, Bogotá in Colombia and a children's rights school in Germany. They contain in-depth background information, methods and worksheets that are aimed at teaching in grades 3 to 7 of all types of schools. Teachers also have the option of downloading the material as a PDF.
