Sternsinger 2025: Children fight for rights and solidarity worldwide!

Wien, Österreich - Austria's star singer start on December 27th your collection campaign under the motto "Raise your voice! - star singing for children's rights". The famous “Heilige three kings” disguised children will be supported prominently in the coming days: Cardinal Christophe Schönborn will receive the first visitors on Friday, while Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen welcomes the Sternsinger delegations in the Hofburg on Monday. On January 1st, the star singers at Pope Francis in Rome are on the guest list, which underlines the meaning and international character of this tradition, as the Epiphany of the Catholic Young Charge reports.

commitment to children's rights

Overall, over 85,000 children across Austria dress up as Kaspar, Melchior and Balthasar and move from house to home to not only spread the Christmas message of peace, but also to collect donations for various aid projects. The collected funds flow into around 500 projects that campaign for children and adolescents in disadvantaged regions worldwide. Special attention is paid to the aid projects in Nepal this year, where many children suffer from poverty and violence, says Kathpress. The action aims to enable the affected children to make a better future through education, protection and care.

The United Nations Child Rights Convention, which has been on education, protection and participation for 35 years, is actively supported by the Sternsinger campaign. In regions such as Turkana in North Kenia and Colombia, program partners of the Epiphany campaign fight against a lack of access to education and medical care. Here children benefit from programs for peace education and therapies that help them to overcome violence and neglect, the star singers report. The initiative shows the urgency to strengthen children's rights worldwide and to promote their implementation, especially in crisis regions.

The campaign not only shows the nationwide solidarity, but also the desire for change: star singing not only maintains tradition, but also a clear message of justice and unity for the rights of children. Further information on the projects can be found online at www.ststersinger.de/stersingen and the official pages of the Epiphany.
