Ö3 Podcast Award 2025: Who will be Austria’s podcast star? Vote now!

The Ö3 Podcast Award 2025 is just around the corner and will bring a breath of fresh air to Austria's podcast landscape! For the fifth time, the organizers are calling for the country's most popular podcasts to be nominated. How ots.at reported, listeners can submit their nominations on the Ö3 homepage until February 28, 2025. The best 20 podcasts are then selected by a jury consisting of creatives and experts. A completely new highlight this year is the Ö3 Corporate Award, which recognizes the growing importance of corporate podcasts and chooses the best corporate podcast.

In addition to the nominations, there is also the Ö3 Newcomer Award, which specifically puts new formats in the spotlight. These are podcasts whose first episode was published after October 2024. Listeners can vote again from March 3rd to 9th, 2025 to crown the best newcomer. To increase anticipation, the special program “Treffpunkt Podcast” is returning, which will run on the Ö3 program from March 5th to 26th. Current podcast highlights are presented here and the winners are then discussed.

Podcasts on the rise

The podcast industry is booming – and not without reason! Loud podwatch.io Almost a third of the German population listened to podcasts last year. Especially among 16 to 29 year olds, over 35% enjoyed this form of entertainment. Podcasts offer variety, from politics to education to entertainment. They can be accessed at any time and are often consumed during “idle times” such as sports or household chores, which increases their popularity enormously. The easy accessibility via platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcast makes these audio formats an integral part of many people's everyday lives.
